Question 1 of 14

What was your natural hair color as a child?

Think of photos from age 5 to 10, before any dye.

About 2 minutes. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Answer in daylight. Answer in daylight, near a window, with no makeup if you can. Go with what is natural for you, not dyed or tanned.
  2. Get your season. Each answer moves you along three scales: warm to cool, light to deep, soft to clear. The season closest to where you land is your result; the next closest is the runner-up.
  3. Use the palette. Copy hex codes, print the swatch sheet or save the phone wallpaper for shopping. Send a friend the compare link to see where your palettes overlap.

Why there is no photo step

We don't let a camera pick your season. Phone cameras change your skin color with the light. Your eyes, in daylight, do better.

Apps that judge a selfie are judging the camera's white balance as much as your skin. So the questions here ask about things you can check by a window: the color of your veins, how gold and silver sit on you, what white does to your skin. The weights behind every answer are on How the quiz works.

Questions people ask

What color season am I?

Your season comes from three things: whether your coloring leans warm or cool, light or deep, and soft or clear. Answer the 14 questions above and you get one of 12 seasons, a confidence score and the runner-up, so you can see how close the call was.

Is this color analysis quiz free?

Yes. The season, confidence score, runner-up, your three axis positions and a 36-color palette with hex codes are free, with no email or sign-up. The optional Personal Palette Report adds the full 60-color palette and personal pages for $7.99, one time.

Why does the quiz not use a photo?

Phone cameras change skin color with the light. Auto white balance cools warm light and warms cool light, and lamps or mixed light sources throw it off further. Your own eyes, in daylight, by a window, give a steadier answer, so the questions ask what you see.

How accurate is a color season quiz?

It is a good starting point, not a diagnosis. If your confidence is low or the runner-up is close, hold one color from each season under your chin in daylight; the result screen tells you which two.

What are the 12 seasons?

Light, Warm and Bright Spring; Light, Cool and Soft Summer; Soft, Warm and Deep Autumn; Deep, True and Bright Winter. Each one has a dominant trait and a second one. The seasonal color analysis guide explains how they fit together.
